First Indonesian Boxer in King’s Cup
It is an honor for Eugene Ankie Chloe, 22-year-old boxer from Jakarta, Indonesia, who gets a chance to compete in the world biggest muaythai event, King’s Cup 2012 on 4 December 2012. The boxer who still studies in college majoring in communications at the London School & Public Relations in Jakarta, Indonesia when he was registered himself as the first
participant in the King’s Cup 2012. Preparing for 2 months at the gym he trains at, Baan Muaythai and Rawai Muaythai, Phuket, Ankie is very ready to face his opponent, who is from England, Gregory Quinton. “I am proud to be fight in the King’s Cup,” said Ankie during weight in session at World Professional Muaythai Federation (WPMF) headquarters at Sanam Nang Leung, Bangkok 3 December 2012. The event was held all night, with the number of matches exceeding 50 matches. Ankie’s turn to play came at 4 am dawn. Matches are scheduled for only 3 rounds, and in this fight, Ankie dominated with a very good knee strike technique. But bad luck befell Ankie when, in the second round, Ankie was hit by Greg’s elbow. The referee to stopped the match because of the amount of blood loss from Ankie’s forehead.
The match ended with a TKO victory in the second round to Greg, who practiced in Jitti Gym, Bangkok. “While unfortunate, this is a valuable lesson for me to continue my career and train harder. Sorry I have not been able to provide the best for Indonesia,” said Ankie. But Ankie gave his best and will continue to improve, so his best gets better. GO ANKIE!
